As the patch cycle for each release progresses, the questlines continue allowing players to continuously upgrade the weapon before reaching a final stage in the final patch before the next expansion. Identified by the purple background on their icons, these weapons are acquired through dedicated max-level questlines. Each release has brought with it a group of weapons colloquially known as "Relic Weapons", named for the first such batch of weapons from the original release and A Realm Reborn.
